Position: Entry-Level Construction Worker / Construction Apprentice / Field Trainee
Location: Hanover, MA
Work Area: South Shore, Cape Cod, and Southeastern Massachusetts
Schedule: Monday–Friday, typical start time 7:00 AM. Saturdays may be required depending on project needs.
Job Type: Full-time, seasonal, and summer positions may be available

What You Will Learn

Entry-level construction workers may be trained in:

  • Job site safety

  • Site preparation and cleanup

  • Hand tools and power tools

  • Excavation support

  • Utility trenching support

  • Material handling

Typical Work Includes

Entry-level construction workers may assist with:

  • Loading and unloading materials

  • Site cleanup and organization

  • Shoveling, raking, grading, and hand digging

  • Moving pipe, stone, forms, tools, and materials

  • Assisting operators, laborers, and foremen

  • Setting up tools, pumps, hoses, cones, signs, and safety equipment

  • Supporting excavation, utility, septic, drainage, concrete, and demolition work

  • Keeping work areas clean and safe

  • Learning how to protect finished work, utilities, equipment, and customer property

This is physical outdoor work. You should expect heat, cold, rain, mud, dust, noise, and changing job site conditions.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • Reliable transportation to the shop or assigned job site

  • Ability to report to work on time

  • Ability to follow directions

  • Willingness to work outdoors in active construction conditions

  • Ability to perform physical construction-related tasks as needed, with or without reasonable accommodation

  • Willingness to work safely around tools, trucks, equipment, trenches, traffic, and other job site hazards

  • Good attitude and ability to work as part of a crew

  • Willingness to learn and improve

Applicants 18 or older are preferred due to active construction site conditions. Applicants under 18 may be considered only where permitted by applicable youth employment laws and job duty restrictions.

Preferred Qualifications

The following are helpful, but not required:

  • Valid driver’s license

  • OSHA 10

  • Vocational, technical school, shop class, or construction program experience

  • Landscaping, snow, farm, warehouse, mechanical, or hands-on work experience

  • Basic tool knowledge

  • Ability to read a tape measure

  • Interest in equipment operation, utilities, septic systems, concrete, grading, or site work

We will consider the right person with limited experience if they are dependable, coachable, and willing to work.
