Amex Construction LLC is hiring Construction Carpenters for residential, commercial, civil/site, and general construction projects across the South Shore, Cape Cod, and Southeastern Massachusetts.

We are looking for reliable, skilled, safety-minded carpenters who can perform clean work, solve field problems, protect finished conditions, and support a growing construction management and site work company.

This position may include rough carpentry, framing, exterior repairs, trim, doors, blocking, concrete formwork, decks, stairs, punch-list work, and general field support.

Position: Construction Carpenter
Location: Hanover, MA
Work Area: South Shore, Cape Cod, and Southeastern Massachusetts
Schedule: Monday–Friday, typical start time 7:00 AM. Saturdays may be required depending on project needs.
Pay: Competitive hourly pay based on experience, tools, reliability, licenses, and ability.

Who We Are Looking For

The right candidate is a carpenter who can work safely, think ahead, follow plans, communicate clearly, and take pride in clean work.

We are looking for someone who can help with building-related scopes while also understanding the pace and conditions of active construction sites.

You should be comfortable working around owners, project managers, supervisors, subcontractors, inspectors, equipment, materials, and other field crews.

This is not a position for someone who needs constant supervision or leaves work half-finished. We need someone who can produce quality work and protect Amex Construction’s reputation in the field.

Typical Work Includes

Construction Carpenters may assist with:

  • Rough framing

  • Wood blocking and backing

  • Exterior trim and repairs

  • Doors, hardware, and adjustments

  • Window and door prep

  • Decks, landings, stairs, and rail support

  • Small structural repairs

  • Rot repair and replacement work

  • Siding and exterior repairs

  • Concrete formwork

  • ADA ramp and walkway-related carpentry support

  • Temporary protection and job site controls

  • Interior and exterior punch-list work

  • Layout, measuring, cutting, fastening, and installation

  • Coordination with project managers, foremen, subcontractors, and customers

  • Keeping the job site clean, organized, and safe

Work may include residential, commercial, school, municipal, civil/site, and general construction projects.

Skills and Experience

Applicants should have experience with some or all of the following:

  • Reading tape measures and basic layout

  • Reading basic plans, details, and sketches

  • Framing walls, floors, stairs, decks, and small structures

  • Installing blocking, trim, doors, and hardware

  • Exterior repair and rot repair work

  • Concrete formwork

  • Using hand tools and power tools safely

  • Working from ladders, staging, lifts, or elevated work areas where applicable

  • Protecting finished surfaces and occupied spaces

  • Working cleanly around active job sites and customer properties

We value carpenters who can think through details before cutting, fastening, or covering work.

Responsibilities

Carpenters are expected to:

  • Perform safe, clean, professional carpentry work

  • Follow direction from the project manager, foreman, or site supervisor

  • Read and understand basic plans, details, measurements, and field conditions

  • Measure accurately and verify before cutting or installing

  • Protect existing structures, finishes, utilities, equipment, and customer property

  • Coordinate with other trades and crew members

  • Identify missing information, conflicts, or field issues before work proceeds

  • Communicate material needs, tool needs, and schedule impacts early

  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe

  • Maintain awareness of quality, safety, production, and job site efficiency

  • Represent Amex Construction professionally with customers, inspectors, subcontractors, and vendors

Minimum Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • Prior carpentry or construction experience

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Reliable transportation to the shop or assigned job site

  • Ability to report to work on time

  • Ability to work safely on active construction sites

  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely

  • Ability to perform physical construction-related tasks as needed, with or without reasonable accommodation

  • Ability to work outdoors and indoors depending on project conditions

  • Ability to follow direction and communicate clearly

  • Good attitude and ability to work as part of a crew

Applicants should have their own basic hand tools. Company tools and specialty tools may be provided depending on the task.

Preferred Qualifications

The following are preferred:

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30

  • Hot Work Certification

  • Experience with rough framing

  • Experience with exterior trim, rot repair, siding, doors, decks, stairs, and punch-list work

  • Experience with concrete formwork

  • Experience working on residential and commercial projects

  • Ability to read plans and details

  • MA Hoisting License, if applicable

  • CSL or construction supervisor experience is a plus, but not required
